Monthly Budget Planner – Bill Tracker, Expense & Savings Tracker Spreadsheet
The bills. The food shops. The school email that casually mentions another thing to pay for.
Money, Made Clear is a monthly budget planner for getting a clearer look at household money, without pretending that every month behaves itself.
Plan the money coming in, keep bills and everyday spending together, then record what actually happened. Give future costs their own savings pots, and see the month in one useful overview.
No perfect month required.
WHAT IT HELPS YOU DO
• Compare your planned income and spending with the amounts you have recorded.
• Keep upcoming bills and subscriptions visible, including ones still partly paid.
• Record everyday spending and refunds without counting the same payment twice.
• Set your own savings-pot goals and track opening balances, additions and withdrawals.
• See a spending breakdown by area, with a chart that updates from your entries.
• Keep the useful money-admin bits together in a reusable Excel workbook.
FOUR CONNECTED VIEWS
MONTH VIEW Enter the calendar month and starting spendable cash. See planned month-end cash and recorded cash after entries, with planned and recorded money shown separately. There is a list of the next five outstanding dated bills, savings-pot balances and a spending-by-area table and chart.
INCOME 40 spaces for expected income and actual receipts. Planned amounts stay separate from received amounts. Choose Expected, Part received, Received or Skip. Actual receipts need a date in the chosen month, no later than your review date.
SPENDING 120 spaces for bills, subscriptions, everyday spending, other costs and refunds. Includes 12 editable starting suggestions, with no invented personal amounts. Enter planned amounts and record payments as they happen. Part-paid bills stay outstanding until you mark them Paid. Refunds use positive inputs and reduce the matching spending category.
SAVINGS POTS 20 optional pots for the costs you want to set money aside for. Enter an opening balance, optional goal, planned addition and actual added / withdrawn amounts. Closing balances, remaining goal amounts and goal progress calculate. Savings transfers stay separate from spending.

GETTING STARTED
Download and unzip the customer folder. Read the Quick Start, keep a clean master and save a separate working copy for each calendar month. Enter any date in that month and your starting spendable cash. Personalise the bill suggestions, make your plan, then record receipts and payments as the month unfolds.
White cells are yours. Shaded cells calculate and are not locked. Keep formulas intact and sort whole tables. No macros are required. Changing the month does not clear entries or reset amounts, so start each month from the master.
IMPORTANT DETAILS
• This is a digital download. No physical planner, device or props are included.
• Microsoft Excel workbook. Google Sheets compatibility has not yet been tested or claimed. A computer with Excel is recommended for editing. Device mock-ups illustrate the product rather than promise a particular tablet setup.
• All amounts are in pounds (GBP). No currency conversion is supplied.
• Planned month-end cash = starting cash + valid planned income - valid planned net spending - planned savings additions.
• Recorded cash after entries = starting cash + valid recorded receipts - recorded net spending - actual net transfers to savings pots. It is not a live bank balance or an amount that is safe to spend. Unrecorded costs are not yet deducted.
• Opening savings-pot balances must not also be included in starting spendable cash. A withdrawal adds cash back; record any purchase it funds separately in Spending.
• Missing and invalid rows have prompts. Planned and recorded checks are independent, so a missing planned amount does not erase a valid recorded receipt or payment. Fix prompts before treating totals as complete.
• For this cash view, record credit-card repayments once when cash leaves the accounts you track; do not also include the underlying purchases as cash spending.
• No bank connection, automatic payment, account reconciliation, debt schedule, interest forecast, investment return or tax calculation is included. This is an organisation tool, not personalised financial advice.
• The five A4 printables are ordinary writing pages, not fillable forms. They do not calculate or sync. Print Actual Size or Fit. No cutting is needed.
• Buyer personal details and amounts are clean. Listing images show clearly illustrative example records.
PERSONAL HOUSEHOLD USE
Reuse working copies for your own household's months. Do not resell, redistribute, give away or publish these files as templates. Keep account numbers, card details and passwords out of the workbook.
